St. George!!!

This was such a fun lil' trip! We went with Colb's fam, and as you can see Colb's dad brought the 4-wheelers, which proved to be a good time for everyone! (Thanks Dad!) On top of doing a lil' 4-wheeling everyone got a little crazy on the tennis courts, in the pool, down at Zions, and in the condos!
This was our first little ride out when we got there. This was just behind the condos, isn't it gorgeous! (L to R: Colb, Me, Brian, Tallin, Chels, and Mike...ya we can't really ever get him to put his shirt on!....) We rode around for a while and watched Greg, Colb's dad get a little crazy on the four wheeler's, Go Greg!!! Next we made our way over to play at the pool, because it was nice and hot, which was quite a difference from the Salt Lake we left that morning! (SNOW!!!!)Good Job Parker and Colby! I see after coaching cheerleading for five years, I have finally rubbed off on Colb!
We also met up with Lauren and Braden from our cruise! We met their 2 lil' girls, who are adorable and then went to dinner. It was after dinner the real adventure began! This picture was right after we went down into this underground cave (full of bats!!! Blah) and spilled glow stick stuff all over us and the walls. This was a classic fun thing to do when I was down at Dixie too, so it brought back good memories! We took some of Colb's brother's and sister with us and we all played hide and go seek! Sounds a little cheesy I know, but it was really fun! Thanks Bergeson's for the great Idea!!!! You guys rock!
The next day, we headed over to Zions National Park for a little hiking and sensational scenery! Colby and I went with his sister Alexis and her two boys on a little hike (which seemed a lot longer then we intended to take the boys on!). Parker, 4 and Hayes 2, did amazing though on their hike, along the edge of a cliff in sandals, there were only a few scares, but not one casualty! All in all it was a success! Here Alexis and I are checking out the ancient hieroglyphics and rock formations left by the early Zion Indians! (ya, I don't know!)
But by far the most exciting part of the hike was Uncle Colby teaching us how to catch lizards! And when we finally caught one we carried it all the way down to the Emerald Pool! But mostly it was funny cuz everyone we crossed on the hike stopped to see this stupid lizard and some even took pictures! It was a pretty amazing find, not just for Colby, Parker and Hayes! Then before we left the pool, of course we had to see if the lizard could fly and swim, by throwing him off the ledge into the pool. I am happy to report that the lizard could do a little of both and was alive at the time of our departure, but probably very traumatized!

Colb and I at the Lower Emerald Pool (pre- lizard base jump)

The trip was great! Thanks guys!

Salt Lake Half Marathon (13.1 miles)/ 04.19.08

So once again my sister, Erica, and I have decided to run another race together! Well actually I was pressured into signing up with the Chiropractic office, I work at a couple of times a week, as part of a team..(the back crackers!... lame I realize!) But of course mostly all of those people couldn't, wouldn't or shouldn't right! So that's when my sister, Erica got involved, because I told her she needed to sign up and run the race with me! I would've done it alone, however the funny comments I feel I need to remember to share after the race, (that won't really be funny anymore), tend to do a bit better when there is someone there right next to you!(and at least there is a feeble attempt of a courtesy laugh). But then there are moments in the race where there is no need to say anything at all, and you both know it's funny and just laugh! This however does expend all your energy for the full next mile!

This is pre-race, at the starting line. You may notice it's dark that's because it is 6 something A.M.!!! Pictured is me, Erica and her friend, half awake, but excited! The race started up at the University of Utah Legacy Bridge. It was awesome because they had a gospel choir singing on the bridge....so cool! We all agreed that they should have also been at the finishing line! My smile could be weird for the following reason's: I was pretty cold, very tired, I also was a little concerned cuz I hadn't had my nervous pooh yet! And if you've ever done any type of race before, you'll know what I mean and if not well then it's just going to sound weird and gross! (sorry about that!)

Here we come down the chute at the gateway, only .1 miles left to go! Colby and Bella were standing up on the bridge with Stephen, Kalli, and Zeik (Erica's lil' fam!) You may notice that Erica's friend is now gone, that is cuz she totally schooled us right from the beginning! She's a fast one! Good job! I heard she finished like 10 min. before us!

Now we pass under the bridge and on to the finish line! If the picture looks a little blurry it's cuz we were going sooo fast! If not, LOOK HARDER, it's blurry! Whoa!!!
Yeah! We made it! I'd like to thank my sponsor, Thompson Family Chiropractic!(I've always wanted to say that!) As well as our support team (Colby, Bella, Stephen, Kalli, Zeik, and my mom!) I'd also like to give a shout out to Noah and April Springer, who also ran the race and who we conversed with at the starting line and along part of the race and then again at the end! They are awesome! Our time was 2 hours and 7 min. (not bad, not bad!!!)

As of right now there are no immediate plans of running another race. But that's normal! Usually after we are done we don't care to run or think of running for a long time! The new goal is to buy Erica's old bike and start doing triathlons with her! That ought to be interesting (especially the swimming part!) Stay tuned!

I decided that our little racing team needed some titles. So Erica is the going to be the Regional Team Captain and I will be the Assistant to the Regional Team Captain (not to be confused with Regional Assistant Team Captain!) See the funny thing's you can come up with during a race! But like I said, it was really funny to us then......probably not so much now, right!................(We still think it's pretty funny!)

First Blog Post: Life Update!!!

So we have finally joined the blogging community! Our myspace and facebook were put together by Colby, and I am now attempting our very first blog.....Go me! Just a little update on our life: Colby is working in Park City at the Rich Haines Gallery. He sells art and loves everything about what this job entails. He has been working in the art gallery business for about 2 yrs. and really enjoys it! He has also been having fun selling real estate for the past few yrs.

I am still a massage therapist (going on 5 1/2 yrs. now) and have been doing it out of our house for about 4 yrs. I have also decided to coach another year of cheerleading, at Hunter High. (going on six yrs.--I know I need therapy, honestly only crazy people do that!)

Colb is still playing soccer at least 2 to 3 times a week and I have recently gotten into pilates, as well as taking walks with Bella at Tanner Park and doing a few races here and there with my sister Erica!

We have had a lot of fun traveling in the past couple of years due to the fact that we do not have any kids! In fact I just heard of this little acronym the other day from my friends blog: D.I.N.K. , translation= dual income, no kids! Well that is definitely what we are, Dink's! (Aside from our daughter dog "Bella") Actually we have been trying to have kids for the past couple of years with no luck, but don't worry we've started some desperate measures! Although we are a little sad about this we really haven't allowed it to slow us down. This is what we have been up to over the last little while.....
In November we went and visited my brother David. Colb actually went to meet him now that he is selling his art work (dshprintmaker.com) and it was a great opportunity for Colb to learn more about his work. David lives in San Francisco, CA and so we just made a trip out of it, since neither Colb or I had been there! We went to Alcatraz and also went to see where the "Full House" house's were, and also did the whole Golden gate thing! We had a blast and definitely want to go back!

After San Fran we came home in time to run in the Cold Turkey race on Thanksgiving day with some of our friends in our neighborhood! (The Springer's and the Bailey's) It was really fun and Bella got to run too, her favorite! Following Thanksgiving we made a quick trip to Aspen, Colorado, where Colby went to go work for a couple of days at an Art Gallery associated with the Park City Gallery he was working at! This was really fun but really Cold and our first real taste of winter for the year. We didn't get to snowboard though, because there wasn't quite enough snow, but the atmosphere was really fun! And while Colb held down the gallery I went out and got my hair straitened and done for the first time in like 2 yrs. and also met a massive St. Bernard, named Waldo! He was really old and really nice!

After Christmas we went on a cruise to the southern Caribbean! It was seven days and one of our funnest vacations so far! We went to 6 different islands, and played really hard!

These are the first friends we met on our cruise, Lauren and Braden, and as luck would have it they were from St. George, UT. We hung out with them most of the time and logged a bunch of good laughs and memories! We're actually going down to see them next week!
(pics from some of our adventures)
yup, I know what your thinking......They're real! (ha ha!)
This guy was hilarious! he tried to steal Colb's shoe's out of the jeep in St. Thomas. When we caught him he told us he was in charge of watching that parking lot and that he was taking the shoes so no one else would steal them and that we were lucky he was there! Totally crazy, but had a sweet island accent and was fun to chat with! He gave us an awesome 20 yr. old TV remote control as a parting gift! Colby kicked him 10 bucks for the entertainment.

Right after our cruise I went to visit my sister Rachelle in Washington for a week cuz while we were cruising she had a really cute little girl! (my newest niece, Maren Elisa Kunkel!) She was born Jan. 24th 2008 and was 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 21 inches! She is a doll! And I had a lot of fun holding and visiting her despite the fact that I had no luggage for this trip... it never made it over with me on the plane!

Now catching up a little closer we make it to March, were Colb and I traveled back to Cali, but this time to Disneyland!!!! This is actually an annuall trip we've been making for the past 5 yrs. with the Hunter High Cheerleaders, for Cheer nationals. The past 2 years have been the best as The Natter's (Braden and Danie) have accompanied us. Danie started coaching with me 2 yrs. ago and our husband get along great so the trips have gotten even better! My team has been doing awesome at nationals, and for the past 3 yrs. they have made it to finals every year! This year we placed 3rd in our category (Small Varsity Show Cheer Intermediate) out of 10 other teams! GO TEAM!!!! and Go Danie and Sarah for being such slave drivers and having no life but to hang out with teenage girls with raging hormones all year long! We just picked our new team, by the way, for the 08'-09' year and can't wait to start all over.....from the beginning.....again.....like I said, I'm crazy!!! Colb thinks so too, in fact he's not really okay with it, but we're working on it together!

Well that's it for now! And if you've actually made it this far down the blog, you can look forward to our upcoming fun road trips to St. George and Moab in the next few weeks! I promise they will not be this long!

Look, It's a baby Maren Burrito!!!!
